Lemon Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Creamy Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter

For the Creamy Garlic Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise if they are thick. Pat dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.

In one bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.

In another bowl, combine Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and lemon zest.

Dip each chicken piece into the egg mixture, then coat well in the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

Cook the chicken for about 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked through. Transfer to a plate and keep warm.

Step 3: Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce

In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.

Slowly pour in chicken broth while whisking continuously. Add heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, stirring until smooth and creamy.

Mix in lemon juice and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 4: Serve

Return the chicken to the skillet or spoon the creamy garlic sauce over the top before serving.

Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
