Tender Chicken Wrapped in Tortillas with a Rich, Creamy Cheese Sauce
A warm, cheesy comfort meal that’s creamy, filling, and perfect for lunch or dinner. These chicken tortilla wraps are baked until golden and covered in a rich homemade cheese sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chicken, diced or shredded
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (for the sauce)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling
In a bowl, combine the cooked chicken with 1 cup shredded cheese. Season lightly with salt and pepper. - Fill the Tortillas
Divide the chicken mixture evenly between the tortillas. Roll them tightly and place seam-side down in a greased baking dish. - Make the Creamy Cheese Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute.
Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth and slightly thickened. - Add the Cheese
Stir in 1 cup shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until creamy and melted. - Assemble
Pour the cheese sauce evenly over the tortillas. - Bake
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly. - Serve
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
