Prime Rib Roast (Juicy & Tender)
Ingredients:
- 1.5 to 3 kg prime rib roast
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp coarse salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp rosemary
- 1 tsp thyme
- Optional: butter (for extra richness)
Instructions:
1) Preparation:
- Take the meat out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 1–2 hours (important for even cooking).
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
2) Seasoning:
- Mix garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary, and thyme.
- Rub the mixture all over the meat.
3) High-heat roasting:
- Roast in the oven for 20 minutes at high temperature to brown the outside.
4) Slow cooking:
- Reduce heat to 160°C (325°F).
- Continue cooking based on doneness:
- Rare: about 15 min per 500g
- Medium: about 20 min per 500g
- Well done: about 25 min per 500g
5) Resting:
- Remove from oven and let it rest for 20–30 minutes before slicing.
Serving:
- Slice and serve with:
- Mashed potatoes
- Roasted vegetables
- Garlic butter or beef gravy
Tip:
Don’t cut the meat immediately after cooking—resting keeps it juicy and tender.
