This easy crockpot chicken and gravy recipe is pure comfort food — tender chicken slow cooked in a rich creamy gravy and served over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits. Perfect for busy weekdays because the slow cooker does all the work!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs
  • 2 packets chicken gravy mix
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups water or low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Optional for Serving

  • Mashed potatoes
  • White rice
  • Egg noodles
  • Biscuits
  • Fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts or thighs in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together:
    • chicken gravy mix
    • cream of chicken soup
    • water or chicken broth
    • garlic powder
  3. Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook:
    • LOW for 6–7 hours
    • or HIGH for 3–4 hours
  5. Once the chicken is tender, shred it using two forks directly in the crockpot.
  6. Stir the shredded chicken into the gravy until everything is creamy and well combined.
  7. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or biscuits.

Tips

  • Chicken thighs give extra flavor and stay very juicy.
  • Add black pepper or onion powder for more seasoning.
  • Stir in sour cream at the end for an even creamier gravy.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day.

Storage

  • Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months.
