Maple Bacon Cheddar Grilled Cheese
Ingredients
- 8 slices thick-cut bread (sourdough or brioche work best)
- 8 oz (about 2 cups) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 8 slices thick-cut bacon
- 2–3 tbsp maple syrup (for that sweet smoky flavor)
- 2 tbsp butter (softened, for grilling)
Instructions
1. Cook the bacon
- Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Optional: brush lightly with a little maple syrup while still warm for extra flavor.
2. Prep the bread
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- On the unbuttered side, drizzle a small amount of maple syrup (don’t overdo it or it’ll get soggy).
3. Assemble the sandwich
For each sandwich:
- Add a layer of cheddar cheese
- Add 2 slices of crispy bacon
- Add more cheddar cheese on top
- Close with another slice of bread (buttered side facing out)
4. Grill it
- Heat a skillet or pan over medium-low heat.
- Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula.
- Flip carefully and cook until golden brown and cheese is fully melted.
5. Serve
- Slice in half and serve hot.
- Optional: drizzle a tiny bit of maple syrup on top before serving for extra indulgence.
Tips
- Low heat = perfectly melted cheese without burning bread.
- Brioche makes it sweeter, sourdough makes it more savory.
- Add a pinch of black pepper or chili flakes for a flavor boost.
