Fork-Tender Foil Packet Pork Chops
Ingredients
- 4 boneless or bone-in pork chops
- 2–3 medium potatoes, sliced thin (or baby potatoes halved)
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2–3 tbsp butter (or olive oil)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Optional: BBQ sauce or honey mustard for extra flavor
- Heavy-duty aluminum foil
Instructions
1. Prep
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) or heat grill to medium-high.
2. Assemble foil packets
- Lay out 4 large sheets of foil.
- In the center of each sheet, place:
- Sliced potatoes
- Carrots
- Onion
- Place 1 pork chop on top of vegetables.
- Add butter and sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
3. Seal
- Fold foil tightly into sealed packets so no steam can escape.
- This steam is what makes the pork super tender and juicy.
4. Cook
- Bake for 40–50 minutes
(or grill for about 35–45 minutes) - Pork is done when it reaches 145°F / 63°C internally and vegetables are fork-tender.
5. Serve
- Carefully open packets (hot steam inside!).
- Optional: drizzle BBQ sauce or pan juices over the top.
Tips for extra tender pork chops
- Don’t overcook (this is the #1 reason pork gets tough)
- Keep packets tightly sealed for steaming
- Add a little butter or broth inside for extra moisture
- Let rest 5 minutes before opening
