 Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta (penne, rotini, or shells)
  • 1 lb sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup heavy cream (or milk)
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

 Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta
Boil pasta in salted water according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil or butter. Add sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté aromatics
In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until soft. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Make the BBQ sauce base
Add BBQ sauce, tomato sauce, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir and let simmer for 3–4 minutes.
  5. Make it creamy
Pour in the heavy cream and stir until the sauce becomes smooth and slightly thick.
  6. Combine everything
Return the sausage to the skillet. Add the cooked pasta and toss well to coat in the sauce.
  7. Add cheese
Sprinkle in the cheddar cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
  8. Serve
Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot.

 Tips
