Ingredients
- 2 cups mini pretzels
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups chocolate chips, milk, dark, or white chocolate
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil or butter, optional
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
- Sea salt flakes, optional for topping
Instructions
1. Prepare the Baking Sheet
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
2. Prepare the Pretzels
Place the mini pretzels in a large mixing bowl. If using larger pretzels, gently break them into smaller bite-size pieces. Don’t crush them too finely—you want plenty of crunchy pieces in every cluster.
3. Add the Peanut Butter
Add the creamy peanut butter to the pretzels. Stir gently until the pretzels are lightly coated.
4. Melt the Chocolate
Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until completely smooth and melted.
For an extra smooth and glossy chocolate coating, stir in the coconut oil or butter.
If using white chocolate, be especially careful not to overheat it. Once it looks almost melted, simply keep stirring until the remaining pieces melt from the residual heat.
5. Combine Everything
Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter-coated pretzels. Gently fold everything together until the pretzels are evenly coated in chocolate.
6. Form the Clusters
Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop heaping spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
Keep the clusters slightly separated so they don’t stick together.
7. Add Sea Salt
While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt over each cluster. This gives them that irresistible sweet-and-salty flavor!
8. Chill
Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 1 hour, or place it in the freezer for approximately 20 minutes, until the clusters are firm and completely set.
9. Serve
Once firm, remove the clusters from the parchment paper and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Storage
Store the clusters in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
They can also be frozen for up to 2 months. Let them sit for a few minutes before serving.
Easy Variations
- Add chopped peanuts, almonds, or cashews.
- Mix in mini marshmallows for a chewy texture.
- Drizzle the finished clusters with white or dark chocolate.
- Add caramel bits for an extra decadent treat.
- Sprinkle crushed cookies or toffee pieces on top.
Pro Tip
Work fairly quickly once the melted chocolate is mixed with the pretzels because the chocolate will begin to set. And don’t skip the flaky sea salt—it makes the chocolate and peanut butter flavor really pop!
