Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Garlic Chicken
Ingredients
- 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons chicken broth
Instructions
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme.
- Rub the chicken thighs with olive oil, then generously coat them with the seasoning mixture. Make sure both sides are well covered.
- Place the seasoned chicken thighs in the slow cooker in a single layer as much as possible.
- Sprinkle any remaining brown sugar seasoning over the chicken.
- Add the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and chicken broth around the chicken.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 2½–3½ hours, until the chicken is completely cooked and tender.
- For a caramelized finish, transfer the cooked chicken to a baking sheet and place it under the broiler for 2–4 minutes, watching carefully so the brown sugar doesn’t burn.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, rice, cornbread, or a fresh green salad. Spoon some of the sweet and savory juices from the slow cooker over the chicken before serving.
Tip: Chicken thighs are especially good for this recipe because they stay juicy during slow cooking, while the brown sugar creates a delicious sweet, caramelized coating.
