Tender Beef Stir Fry with Onions (Quick & Juicy Skillet Recipe)
Ingredients
- 1 pound (450 g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- ¼ cup beef broth or water
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt to taste
- Chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, black pepper, paprika, and beef broth.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and cook for 4–5 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized. Remove them from the pan.
- Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Add the beef slices and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Return the onions to the skillet and pour in the sauce. Stir everything together and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve hot over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.
Tips
- Slice the beef as thinly as possible for maximum tenderness.
- Marinate the meat for 20–30 minutes for extra flavor.
- Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or broccoli if you like extra vegetables.
