Tender Beef Stir Fry with Onions (Quick & Juicy Skillet Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup beef broth or water
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, black pepper, paprika, and beef broth.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and cook for 4–5 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized. Remove them from the pan.
  3. Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Add the beef slices and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Return the onions to the skillet and pour in the sauce. Stir everything together and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve hot over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.

Tips

  • Slice the beef as thinly as possible for maximum tenderness.
  • Marinate the meat for 20–30 minutes for extra flavor.
  • Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or broccoli if you like extra vegetables.
