Tomato Sandwich

Tomato Sandwich

A classic Tomato Sandwich is simple, fresh, and incredibly satisfying. Made with juicy ripe tomatoes, creamy mayonnaise, and soft white bread, it’s the perfect quick lunch or light snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices white sandwich bread
  • 1 large ripe tomato, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the tomato into even slices. Pat gently with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Toast the bread lightly if you prefer a little crunch, or leave it soft for a traditional sandwich.
  3. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly on each slice of bread.
  4. Arrange the tomato slices over one slice of bread, slightly overlapping them.
  5. Sprinkle generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down.
  7. Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions

  • Pair with potato chips, French fries, or a cup of tomato soup.
  • Serve alongside a fresh green salad for a light meal.
  • Enjoy with iced tea, lemonade, or your favorite cold drink.

Tips

  • Use the ripest, in-season tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • A pinch of flaky sea salt enhances the sweetness of the tomatoes.
  • Add fresh basil, lettuce, crispy bacon, or sliced avocado for a delicious twist.
  • Eat immediately after assembling to keep the bread from becoming soggy.
