Ginger Water (Healthy Metabolism Drink)

Description

Ginger Water is a simple, refreshing, and healthy drink often enjoyed for its warming flavor and wellness benefits. Made with fresh ginger and water, it can be served warm or chilled and is a great addition to your daily routine. Many people enjoy it as a light metabolism-support drink, especially in the morning.

Ingredients

  • 1 large piece fresh ginger root (about 2 to 3 inches / 5 to 7 cm)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or preferred sweetener (optional)
  • A few mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ginger
Wash the ginger root well. Peel it if desired, then slice it thinly or grate it.
  2. Boil the water
Pour the 4 cups of water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
  3. Add the ginger
Add the sliced or grated ginger to the boiling water.
  4. Simmer
Lower the heat and let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes so the ginger flavor infuses into the water.
  5. Strain
Remove from the heat and strain the ginger pieces out of the water.
  6. Add extras if desired
Stir in lemon juice and honey if using.
  7. Serve
Drink warm, or let it cool and refrigerate for a chilled version.

How to Drink It

  • Morning: 1 cup on an empty stomach if you like
  • Throughout the day: sip it cold or warm
  • Before meals: some people enjoy it before eating

Tips

  • For a stronger drink, simmer the ginger a little longer.
  • Add cinnamon, turmeric, or cucumber slices for extra flavor.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
