- 1 cup apple butter
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the slow cooker
Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker or use a liner for easy cleanup. - Add the chicken
Place the chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom of the slow cooker. - Make the sauce
In a medium bowl, whisk together the apple butter, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper until smooth. - Combine
Pour the sauce evenly over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated. - Cook

- For a shredded version: remove chicken, shred with two forks, then return to the sauce and mix.
- For whole pieces: serve directly with sauce spooned on top.
- Serve
Best served over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or with warm bread to soak up the sauce.
