These Potatoes Are Better Than Pizza!
A cozy, budget-friendly potato bake with crispy edges, soft centers, and loads of melty cheese. Simple ingredients, big comfort — and kids always ask for seconds!
Ingredients
- 5–6 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried herbs (thyme or oregano)
- 1½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or mix)
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Season: In a bowl, toss sliced potatoes with oil/butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and herbs.
- Layer: Arrange potatoes in the dish, slightly overlapping.
- Bake (covered): Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes until starting to soften.
- Add cheese: Remove foil, sprinkle cheese generously on top.
- Bake (uncovered): Return to oven 15–20 minutes until golden, bubbly, and crisp on the edges.
- Finish: Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Tips & Variations
- Add thin onion slices between layers for extra flavor.
- Sprinkle chili flakes for a little heat.
- Turn it into a full meal by adding cooked minced meat or tuna between layers.
