These Potatoes Are Better Than Pizza!

A cozy, budget-friendly potato bake with crispy edges, soft centers, and loads of melty cheese. Simple ingredients, big comfort — and kids always ask for seconds!

 Ingredients

  • 5–6 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried herbs (thyme or oregano)
  • 1½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or mix)
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)

 Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Season: In a bowl, toss sliced potatoes with oil/butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and herbs.
  3. Layer: Arrange potatoes in the dish, slightly overlapping.
  4. Bake (covered): Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes until starting to soften.
  5. Add cheese: Remove foil, sprinkle cheese generously on top.
  6. Bake (uncovered): Return to oven 15–20 minutes until golden, bubbly, and crisp on the edges.
  7. Finish: Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

 Tips & Variations

  • Add thin onion slices between layers for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle chili flakes for a little heat.
  • Turn it into a full meal by adding cooked minced meat or tuna between layers.
