This easy crockpot chicken and gravy recipe is pure comfort food — tender chicken slow cooked in a rich creamy gravy and served over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits. Perfect for busy weekdays because the slow cooker does all the work!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs
- 2 packets chicken gravy mix
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 2 cups water or low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Optional for Serving
- Mashed potatoes
- White rice
- Egg noodles
- Biscuits
- Fresh parsley
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts or thighs in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together:
- chicken gravy mix
- cream of chicken soup
- water or chicken broth
- garlic powder
- Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken.
- Cover and cook:
- LOW for 6–7 hours
- or HIGH for 3–4 hours
- Once the chicken is tender, shred it using two forks directly in the crockpot.
- Stir the shredded chicken into the gravy until everything is creamy and well combined.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or biscuits.
Tips
- Chicken thighs give extra flavor and stay very juicy.
- Add black pepper or onion powder for more seasoning.
- Stir in sour cream at the end for an even creamier gravy.
- Leftovers taste even better the next day.
