 Budget-Friendly “Melt-in-Your-Mouth” Chicken 4 Ingredients

This is a super easy, affordable comfort meal that many families love. It uses simple ingredients but turns into a rich, tender, and flavorful dish that literally falls apart with a fork.

 Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken (thighs or drumsticks work best, but you can also use chicken breast)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 packet onion soup mix (store-bought seasoning mix)
  • 2–3 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks (optional but highly recommended)
  • 1/2 cup water or chicken broth

 Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
If you prefer, you can also use a slow cooker on low heat for 6–7 hours.
  2. Prepare the base:
Place the sliced onions evenly at the bottom of a baking dish. This helps create a flavorful sauce as it cooks.
  3. Add the chicken:
Arrange the chicken pieces on top of the onions. Try not to overcrowd the dish so everything cooks evenly.
  4. Season it:
Sprinkle the onion soup mix evenly over the chicken. This is what gives the dish its deep, savory flavor.
  5. Add moisture:
Pour in about 1/2 cup of water or chicken broth. This will help create a light gravy while it cooks.
  6. Add potatoes (optional):
Place potato chunks around the chicken so they soak up all the delicious juices.
  7. Bake:
Cover the dish with foil and bake for about 60–90 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken pieces.
Remove the foil in the last 10–15 minutes for a slightly golden top.

 What you get:

The chicken becomes extremely tender, juicy, and flavorful. The onions melt into a rich sauce, and the potatoes absorb all the seasoning, making everything taste homemade and comforting.

 Tips:

  • For extra flavor, you can add a little garlic powder or black pepper.
  • If you want a thicker sauce, remove the chicken at the end and simmer the juices on the stove for a few minutes.
  • This recipe also works great with beef chuck roast for a more “slow-cooked” taste.
