Maple Bacon Cheddar Grilled Cheese

Maple Bacon Cheddar Grilled Cheese

Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick-cut bread (sourdough or brioche work best)
  • 8 oz (about 2 cups) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 2–3 tbsp maple syrup (for that sweet smoky flavor)
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened, for grilling)

 Instructions

1. Cook the bacon

  • Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Optional: brush lightly with a little maple syrup while still warm for extra flavor.

2. Prep the bread

  • Butter one side of each bread slice.
  • On the unbuttered side, drizzle a small amount of maple syrup (don’t overdo it or it’ll get soggy).

3. Assemble the sandwich

For each sandwich:

  • Add a layer of cheddar cheese
  • Add 2 slices of crispy bacon
  • Add more cheddar cheese on top
  • Close with another slice of bread (buttered side facing out)

4. Grill it

  • Heat a skillet or pan over medium-low heat.
  • Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula.
  • Flip carefully and cook until golden brown and cheese is fully melted.

5. Serve

  • Slice in half and serve hot.
  • Optional: drizzle a tiny bit of maple syrup on top before serving for extra indulgence.

 Tips

  • Low heat = perfectly melted cheese without burning bread.
  • Brioche makes it sweeter, sourdough makes it more savory.
  • Add a pinch of black pepper or chili flakes for a flavor boost.
