Cottage Cheese Sticks
Ingredients
Main Mixture
- 1 cup cottage cheese (pressed or firm)
- ½ cup grated mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying (vegetable, sunflower, or canola)
Optional Coating for Extra Crunch
- ½ cup flour
- 1 egg (beaten)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Prepare the mixture
In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, grated cheese, egg, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until thick and moldable. - Shape the sticks
Form the mixture into sticks about 3–4 inches long and ½ inch thick. - Optional coating
For extra crispy sticks:- Roll each stick in flour
- Dip in beaten egg
- Roll in breadcrumbs
- Heat the oil
Pour oil into a pan to about ½‑inch depth and heat to medium-high (~350°F / 175°C). - Fry the sticks
Fry sticks in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. - Drain and serve
Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dip.
Tips & Variations
- Chill the sticks for 10–15 minutes before frying to help them hold shape.
- You can bake at 400°F (200°C) or air fry at 375°F (190°C) for a lighter version.
- Add herbs like oregano, basil, or chili flakes for extra flavor.
