Garbage Bread
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup cooked, chopped bacon
- 1 tablespoon McCormick Grill Mates seasoning
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
- ½ cup pepperoni slices (optional)
- ½ cup chopped bell peppers (optional)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Cook the filling
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
- Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until softened.
- Stir in the bacon and seasoning, mix well, then remove from heat.
- Prepare the dough
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
- Add the filling
- Spread the beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.
- Add pepperoni and veggies if using.
- Roll it up
- Carefully roll the dough into a tight log (like a jelly roll).
- Pinch the seams and ends to seal.
- Brush and season
- Place the roll seam-side down on a baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg.
- Mix melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning, then brush over the top.
- Bake
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve
- Let cool slightly, then slice and serve.
- Great with marinara or ranch dipping sauce!
Tips
- You can swap beef for sausage or chicken.
- Add jalapeños for a spicy kick.
- Use different cheeses like provolone or pepper jack for more flavor.
