Garbage Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup cooked, chopped bacon
  • 1 tablespoon McCormick Grill Mates seasoning
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
  • ½ cup pepperoni slices (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped bell peppers (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Cook the filling
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
    • Drain excess fat.
    • Add chopped onion and cook until softened.
    • Stir in the bacon and seasoning, mix well, then remove from heat.
  2. Prepare the dough
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
  3. Add the filling
    • Spread the beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
    • Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.
    • Add pepperoni and veggies if using.
  4. Roll it up
    • Carefully roll the dough into a tight log (like a jelly roll).
    • Pinch the seams and ends to seal.
  5. Brush and season
    • Place the roll seam-side down on a baking sheet.
    • Brush with beaten egg.
    • Mix melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning, then brush over the top.
  6. Bake
    • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Serve
    • Let cool slightly, then slice and serve.
    • Great with marinara or ranch dipping sauce!

Tips

  • You can swap beef for sausage or chicken.
  • Add jalapeños for a spicy kick.
  • Use different cheeses like provolone or pepper jack for more flavor.
