BACON CHEESEBURGER GRILLED CHEESE CASSEROLE
All the flavors of a bacon cheeseburger and grilled cheese—baked into one cheesy, comforting casserole!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb ground beef
- 6 slices cooked bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon mustard powder (optional, but very burger-like)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or American cheese
- 8 slices sandwich bread (white or brioche work best)
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- Optional toppings: sliced pickles, sesame seeds, green onions
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish. - Cook the beef mixture
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until soft.
Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and mustard powder.
Drain excess grease. - Add bacon & sauce
Mix in chopped bacon, ketchup, and mustard.
Remove from heat. - Assemble the casserole
- Place a layer of bread slices in the baking dish.
- Spread half of the beef mixture on top.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese.
- Add another layer of bread.
- Repeat with remaining beef and cheese.
- Butter the top
Brush the top bread layer with melted butter.
Sprinkle sesame seeds if you want that real cheeseburger vibe. - Bake
Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly. - Serve
Let rest 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
Add pickles on top or on the side for the full burger experience.
TIPS
- Want it extra cheesy? Add more American cheese inside.
- Love heat? Add jalapeños or a little hot sauce.
- Serve with fries or a simple salad
