Ultimate Patty Melt with Secret Sauce<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A crispy, buttery sandwich packed with juicy beef patties, caramelized onions, melty cheese, and a creamy tangy secret sauce \u2014 diner-style comfort food at home!<\/p>\n

Ingredients<\/h3>\n

For the Patty Melts<\/h4>\n

  • 1 lb ground beef<\/li>\n
  • Salt & black pepper to taste<\/li>\n
  • 8 slices rye or sourdough bread<\/li>\n
  • 8 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese<\/li>\n
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced<\/li>\n
  • 4 tbsp butter<\/li>\n
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    For the Secret Sauce<\/h4>\n

    • 1\/2 cup mayonnaise<\/li>\n
    • 2 tbsp ketchup<\/li>\n
    • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard<\/li>\n
    • 1 tbsp pickle relish<\/li>\n
    • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n
    • 1\/2 tsp garlic powder<\/li>\n
    • 1\/2 tsp onion powder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Instructions<\/h3>\n

      1. Make the Secret Sauce<\/strong>
        \nMix all sauce ingredients in a bowl until smooth. Refrigerate while cooking.<\/li>\n
      2. Caramelize the Onions<\/strong>
        \nMelt 2 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions and cook slowly for 20\u201325 minutes until golden and soft.<\/li>\n
      3. Cook the Patties<\/strong>
        \nSeason beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape into thin oval patties. Cook in a hot skillet for 3\u20134 minutes per side.<\/li>\n
      4. Assemble the Patty Melts<\/strong>
        \nSpread secret sauce on bread slices. Add cheese, beef patty, caramelized onions, more cheese, then top with another bread slice.<\/li>\n
      5. Grill the Sandwiches<\/strong>
        \nButter the outside of each sandwich. Cook in skillet over medium heat until bread is crispy and golden and cheese is melted, about 3 minutes per side.<\/li>\n
