Chop into small pieces.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Make the roux<\/strong><br \/>\nIn a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.<br \/>\nAdd flour and whisk continuously for 1\u20132 minutes until smooth (do not brown).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add milk<\/strong><br \/>\nSlowly pour in warm milk while whisking to avoid lumps.<br \/>\nCook until the sauce thickens (about 3\u20135 minutes).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add beef &amp; seasoning<\/strong><br \/>\nStir in chopped dried beef and black pepper.<br \/>\nSimmer for 2\u20133 minutes until creamy and heated through.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Serve<\/strong><br \/>\nSpoon generously over toasted bread slices.
