3-Ingredient Slow Cooker Cube Steak with Brown Gravy
Pour brown gravy over raw cube steaks with just two simple additions, set the slow cooker, and come back to a rich, comforting dinner that tastes like you cooked all day.
Ingredients
- Cube steaks
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
Water is used to prepare the gravy according to the packet directions.
Preparation
Spread the sliced onion evenly over the bottom of the slow cooker.
Place the cube steaks in a single layer on top of the onions.
In a bowl, prepare the brown gravy mix with water as directed on the packet and stir until smooth.
Pour the gravy over the cube steaks, making sure they are well covered.
Cover with the lid.
Cooking
Cook on low heat for 6 to 7 hours or on high heat for 3 to 4 hours, until the meat becomes very tender and the onions melt into the gravy.
Avoid opening the lid during cooking to keep the heat steady.
Serving
Serve the cube steaks hot with plenty of onion gravy spooned over the top.
This dish is perfect with mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or fresh bread.
Tips
For thicker gravy, leave the lid slightly open during the last 30 minutes.
Leftovers taste even better the next day and reheat beautifully.
A simple, hearty meal with deep flavor using only three main ingredients.
