Chocolate Cake with Sweetened Condensed Milk

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, vegetable oil, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until fully combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional Chocolate Topping

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Heat the cream until warm, pour over the chocolate chips, let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Pour over the cooled cake.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter
  • Do not overmix to keep the cake soft and fluffy
  • You can add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee to enhance the chocolate flavor
  • Store the cake covered at room temperature for up to 3 days
