AMISH CABBAGE NOODLES

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter (or more for richer flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon oil (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: bacon or ham (for extra flavor)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cook the noodles
    Boil egg noodles in salted water until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the cabbage
    In a large skillet, melt butter (and oil if using) over medium heat.
    Add onion and cook until soft.
  3. Add cabbage
    Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook for about 10–15 minutes until soft and slightly golden.
  4. Add garlic & seasoning
    Add garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 more minute.
  5. Combine everything
    Add the cooked noodles to the cabbage mixture. Toss well until everything is coated in buttery flavor.
  6. Optional step
    Add cooked bacon or ham for a richer, traditional taste.

  • Don’t rush the cabbage — let it caramelize slightly for better taste
