AMISH CABBAGE NOODLES
INGREDIENTS
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1/2 head green cabbage, shredded
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter (or more for richer flavor)
- 1 tablespoon oil (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Optional: bacon or ham (for extra flavor)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cook the noodles
Boil egg noodles in salted water until tender. Drain and set aside. - Cook the cabbage
In a large skillet, melt butter (and oil if using) over medium heat.
Add onion and cook until soft. - Add cabbage
Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook for about 10–15 minutes until soft and slightly golden. - Add garlic & seasoning
Add garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 more minute. - Combine everything
Add the cooked noodles to the cabbage mixture. Toss well until everything is coated in buttery flavor. - Optional step
Add cooked bacon or ham for a richer, traditional taste.

- Don’t rush the cabbage — let it caramelize slightly for better taste
- Add a pinch of caraway seeds if you want a more authentic flavor
