A classic, simple comfort food often served for breakfast or a light lunch in the U.S. Creamy peas poured over crispy buttered toast—quick, cozy, and delicious!

 Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices bread, toasted
  • Optional: pinch of garlic powder or onion powder

 Instructions

  1. Cook the peas:
    Boil or steam the frozen peas according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Make the creamy sauce:
    In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, whisking constantly.
  3. Add the milk:
    Slowly whisk in the milk. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
  4. Season:
    Add salt, black pepper, and optional garlic or onion powder.
  5. Add the peas:
    Stir the cooked peas into the sauce and cook for another 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  6. Serve:
    Spoon the creamy peas over warm toasted bread slices.

  • Add chopped cooked bacon or ham for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese for a richer taste.
  • Serve with fried eggs for a hearty breakfast.
