Classic Beef Chili Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 can (14–15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (14–15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth (or water)
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
- Cook the beef:
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed. - Add vegetables:
Add chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. - Add tomatoes & beans:
Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, kidney beans, and beef broth. Mix well. - Season:
Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne (if using). Stir well. - Simmer:
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer uncovered for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The chili will thicken and flavors will develop. - Taste & adjust:
Adjust salt or spice level if needed.
