Neighbor Judy Chocolate Chip Cookies (No White Sugar)
Soft, thick, and perfectly puffy chocolate chip cookies made with all brown sugar for extra moisture and flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. - Cream butter and sugar
In a large bowl, beat softened butter and brown sugar together for 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy. - Add eggs and vanilla
Mix in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla extract and mix until combined. - Combine dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. - Mix dough
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Mix just until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips. - Chill (important for puffiness!)
Chill dough for at least 30–60 minutes to prevent spreading. - Bake
Scoop dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place on baking sheet.
Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden but centers look slightly soft. - Cool
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Tips for Thick & Puffy Cookies
- Do NOT melt the butter — it must be softened only.
- Chill the dough before baking.
- Slightly underbake for soft centers.
