Monterey Sausage Pie
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup Bisquick baking mix (or all-purpose flour)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt (optional, depending on sausage)
- ¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- Cooking spray or butter for greasing pan
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9-inch pie dish or baking pan.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage and chopped onion until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Spread the sausage mixture evenly in the pie dish.
- Sprinkle Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese on top.
- In a bowl, whisk together:
- Eggs
- Milk
- Bisquick (or flour)
- Salt, pepper, and garlic powder
- Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese.
- Bake for 35–45 minutes, until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let cool 5–10 minutes before slicing.
