 Iowa Party Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup Bisquick baking mix (or all-purpose flour)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Mini phyllo shells, small tart shells, or lightly greased mini muffin tin

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef until fully browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the onion soup mix and let cool slightly.
  4. In a bowl, mix together:
    • Cooked beef
    • Cheddar cheese
    • Mayonnaise
    • Bisquick (or flour)
    • Milk
    • Egg
    • Garlic powder and pepper
  5. Spoon the mixture into mini tart shells or mini muffin cups (about ¾ full).
  6. Bake for 15–20 minutes, until golden and set.
  7. Cool slightly before serving.

Serving Tips

  • Serve warm as finger food or appetizers
  • Pair with ranch dip, BBQ sauce, or ketchup
  • Great for potlucks and family gatherings

Variations

  •  Add jalapeños for spicy bites
  • Use Monterey Jack or pepper jack cheese
  • Add cooked crumbled bacon
  •  Add finely chopped bell peppers or green onions
