Homemade Crunch Bars
A deliciously crispy, chocolatey treat with a satisfyingly crunchy center!
Ingredients
- 2 cups rice cereal (like Rice Krispies)
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional; almonds, peanuts, or pecans)
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy or chunky)
- 1/4 cup honey or corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prepare pan: Line an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine rice cereal, nuts (if using), and a pinch of salt.
- Melt chocolate mixture: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt together the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and honey (or corn syrup), stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Combine: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal mixture. Stir gently until everything is evenly coated.
- Press into pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan. Press firmly with a spatula or your hands (lightly greased) to compact it.
- Chill: Refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours, or until firm.
- Cut and serve: Lift the mixture from the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into bars or squares. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge.
Tips:
- For extra crunch, toast the nuts lightly before adding.
- You can drizzle melted white chocolate on top for a fancy look.
- For a nut-free version, just skip the nuts or add extra cereal.
