 Cinnamon Roll Apple “Lasagna”

Ingredients

For the Apple Filling

  • 4 cups peeled, diced apples (about 4 medium apples)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Cinnamon Roll Layers

  • 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing included)

Optional Toppings

  • Extra icing from the cinnamon rolls
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (for serving )

Instructions

1. Prepare the Apple Filling

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine:
    • Apples, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), vanilla, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, for 8–10 minutes until apples soften and the mixture thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2. Prepare the Cinnamon Rolls

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Open cinnamon roll cans and slice each roll horizontally into 3–4 thin layers (like lasagna sheets).

3. Assemble the “Lasagna”

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Layer as follows:
    • Cinnamon roll slices (cover bottom)
    • Apple filling
    • Repeat layers until ingredients are used
  3. Finish with a layer of cinnamon rolls on top.

4. Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  • If top browns too fast, loosely cover with foil.

5. Finish & Serve

  1. Drizzle with the cinnamon roll icing while warm.
  2. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
  3. Serve warm — amazing with vanilla ice cream
