 Sweet Potatoes in the Microwave

A quick, easy, and healthy way to enjoy perfectly soft sweet potatoes in minutes!

 Ingredients:

  • 1–2 medium sweet potatoes
  • Optional toppings:
    • Butter
    • Salt
    • Black pepper
    • Cinnamon
    • Honey or maple syrup
    • Olive oil

 Instructions:

  1. Wash the Sweet Potatoes
    Rinse the sweet potatoes well under running water and scrub off any dirt. Dry them with a towel.
  2. Pierce the Skin
    Using a fork, poke each sweet potato 5–6 times all over. This allows steam to escape while cooking.
  3. Microwave
    Place the sweet potatoes on a microwave-safe plate.
    Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
  4. Flip & Continue Cooking
    Carefully flip the sweet potatoes and microwave for another 3–5 minutes, until they are fork-tender.
  5. Rest
    Let them rest for 1–2 minutes (they’ll continue cooking inside).
  6. Serve
    Slice open, fluff the inside with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.

 Serving Ideas:

  • Sweet: butter + cinnamon + honey
  • Savory: olive oil + salt + black pepper
  • Healthy: Greek yogurt + pinch of salt
  • Comfort: butter + brown sugar
