SOUR CREAM BEEF NOODLE CASSEROLE
INGREDIENTS
BEEF MIXTURE
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
SAUCE
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
PASTA
- 8 oz egg noodles
OPTIONAL TOPPING
- Extra shredded cheese
- Chopped parsley
PREPARATION
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a medium casserole dish.
- Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
DIRECTIONS
1. COOK THE BEEF
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
Stir in garlic, salt, and black pepper.
Drain excess fat if necessary.
2. PREPARE THE SAUCE
In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese.
Mix until smooth and well blended.
3. ASSEMBLE THE CASSEROLE
Spread half of the cooked noodles in the prepared casserole dish.
Top with half of the beef mixture.
Spread half of the sour cream sauce over the beef.
Repeat layers with remaining noodles, beef, and sauce.
4. BAKE
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
5. SERVE
Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Garnish with extra cheese or chopped parsley if desired.
NOTES AND TIPS
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef if preferred.
- For extra flavor, add paprika or Italian seasoning to the beef.
- This casserole can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking.
- Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to three days.
