CHOCOLATE LOAF CAKE

INGREDIENTS

DRY INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

WET INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

OPTIONAL

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper or grease it well.
  3. Bring all ingredients to room temperature.

DIRECTIONS

1. MIX DRY INGREDIENTS

In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Set aside.

2. MIX WET INGREDIENTS

In a separate bowl, whisk sugar and eggs until slightly pale.
Add oil, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

3. COMBINE

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
Mix gently until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips if using.

4. BAKE

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

5. COOL

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.


INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake soft.
  • You can replace milk with yogurt for a richer texture.
  • Store covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • This cake can be served plain or topped with chocolate glaze.
