 Tender Chicken Wrapped in Tortillas with a Rich, Creamy Cheese Sauce

 Ingredients

For the wraps:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, diced or shredded
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the creamy cheese sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups milk (warm)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

 Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken filling
    • In a pan over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil.
    • Add the cooked chicken, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Stir and cook for 3–4 minutes until heated through.
    • Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Make the creamy cheese sauce
    • In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat.
    • Add the flour and whisk continuously for 1 minute.
    • Slowly pour in the warm milk, whisking to avoid lumps.
    • Cook until the sauce thickens (about 3–5 minutes).
    • Add shredded cheese and cream cheese, stir until smooth.
    • Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble the wraps
    • Lay tortillas flat.
    • Spoon chicken filling down the center of each tortilla.
    • Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
    • Roll tightly into wraps.
  4. Serve
    • Drizzle generously with the creamy cheese sauce.
    • Optional: lightly toast the wraps in a pan until golden.
