Oven-Roasted Stuffed Cabbage Steaks with Shrimp & Sausage

A rich and flavorful dish made with tender roasted cabbage, juicy shrimp, and smoky sausage. Perfect for lunch or dinner!

 Ingredients

 For the Cabbage:

  • 1 large green cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder

 For the Filling:

  • 300 g (10 oz) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 200 g (7 oz) smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper
  • Paprika
  • Cumin
  • Chili flakes or cayenne (optional)

 Optional Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Pinch of paprika or Cajun seasoning

 Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cabbage
    • Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
    • Slice the cabbage into thick round “steaks.”
    • Place on a baking tray, brush with olive oil, and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
    • Roast for 25–30 minutes, until tender and lightly golden.
  2. Make the Filling
    • In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter.
    • Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
    • Add sausage slices and cook until browned.
    • Stir in bell peppers and cook for 2–3 minutes.
    • Add shrimp and season with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and chili.
    • Cook just 2–3 minutes (shrimp cook fast).
  3. Stuff & Bake
    • Remove cabbage from oven and gently open the center.
    • Fill with the shrimp and sausage mixture.
    • Return to oven and bake for 10–15 minutes until everything is heated through.
  4. Optional Sauce
    • Melt butter with garlic, add lemon juice and seasoning.
    • Drizzle over cabbage before serving.
