Cheddar Bay Chicken Cobbler
A cozy, cheesy chicken cobbler inspired by Cheddar Bay biscuits—rich, savory, and perfect comfort food!
Ingredients
Chicken Filling
- 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup whole milk or half-and-half
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Biscuit Topping
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¾ cup milk
Garlic Butter Topping
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp dried parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish. - Make the Chicken Filling
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tbsp butter.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in chicken broth and milk until smooth.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Cook until the sauce thickens (about 3–5 minutes).
- Stir in chicken and cheddar cheese.
- Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Prepare Biscuit Topping
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and cheddar cheese.
- Stir in milk just until combined (do not overmix).
- Assemble
- Spoon biscuit batter evenly over the chicken filling.
- Dot the top with the remaining 2 tbsp butter.
- Bake
Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and cooked through. - Garlic Butter Finish
- Mix melted butter with garlic powder and parsley.
- Brush over the hot cobbler right out of the oven.
- Serve
Let rest for 5–10 minutes, then serve warm 😋
