STUFFED MELTY FLATBREADS WITH MEAT & CHEESE
👉 A cross between batbout, msemen, and a hot stuffed sandwich — ultra soft on the inside and lightly crispy on the outside.
INGREDIENTS (8 FLATBREADS)
DOUGH
- 400 g all-purpose flour
- 100 g fine semolina
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons oil
- About 300 ml warm water
FILLING
- 300 g ground meat (beef or beef & lamb)
- 1 onion, grated
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Grated cheese (mozzarella or cheese blend)
- Chopped parsley or cilantro
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large bowl, combine all the dough ingredients and knead until soft and smooth.
- Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground meat with the grated onion, spices, salt, pepper, and herbs until fully cooked. Let cool completely.
- Divide the dough into equal balls.
- Flatten each ball, add some meat filling and grated cheese, then seal well.
- Gently flatten into a round flatbread.
- Cook on a hot skillet over medium heat with very little oil until golden brown on both sides.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Serve hot with a fresh salad, yogurt sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.
