- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups whole milk
- Ground nutmeg (for topping)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
- In a large bowl, lightly beat the eggs.
- Add the sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix gently until combined (do not overmix).

- Pour the custard into a greased baking dish or individual ramekins.
- Sprinkle ground nutmeg lightly over the top.
- Place the dish in a larger baking pan and add hot water halfway up the sides to create a water bath.
- Bake for 45–60 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Remove from the oven, let cool, then refrigerate before serving.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
- Serve chilled or slightly warm
- Enjoy plain or with fresh fruit on the side
NOTES
- For a richer custard, replace 1 cup of milk with heavy cream.
- Avoid overbaking to keep the texture smooth and creamy.
