Tortilla Burgers (Smash Burger Tacos)
These viral smash burger tacos combine the juiciness of a classic smash burger with the crispiness of a pan-fried tortilla. Fast, cheesy, and insanely good!
Ingredients
For the Burger Tacos
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 for best juiciness)
- 6 small flour tortillas (soft taco size)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
For the Toppings
- 6 slices American cheese (or cheddar)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, thinly sliced
- ½ small onion, finely chopped
- Pickles (optional)
For the Burger Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon pickle relish
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, paprika, and garlic powder. Refrigerate until ready to use. - Season the Beef
In a bowl, combine ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently. - Assemble the Tacos
Divide the beef into 6 portions. Press a thin layer of beef directly onto one side of each tortilla, covering it edge to edge. - Cook the Smash Burger Tacos
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
Place tortillas beef-side down in the hot pan. Press firmly with a spatula.
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the beef is browned and crispy. - Flip & Add Cheese
Flip the tortillas, add a slice of cheese on the cooked beef, and cook for another 1–2 minutes until the tortilla is golden and crispy. - Assemble & Serve
Remove from heat. Top with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and drizzle with burger sauce.
Fold like a taco and serve immediately.

- Use a cast-iron skillet for the best crust
