TEXAS TOAST SLOPPY JOES
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sloppy joe sauce (or ketchup-based sauce)
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- 8 slices Texas toast
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- Optional: sliced pickles or jalapeños
Instructions
- Cook the beef:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add onion and cook 2–3 minutes until soft.
Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
Add ground beef and cook until browned; drain excess fat. - Make it sloppy:
Stir in sloppy joe sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
Simmer 5–10 minutes until thick and saucy. - Toast the bread:
Toast Texas toast in the oven or toaster until lightly golden. - Assemble:
Place toasted Texas toast on a baking sheet.
Spoon sloppy joe mixture generously over each slice.
Top with shredded cheese. - Melt & serve:
Broil 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve hot.

- Add coleslaw on top for crunch
