 Iowa Party Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package party rye bread (or cocktail bread slices)
  • Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish

 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the diced onion until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cooked beef with cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Arrange the rye bread slices on a baking sheet.
  5. Spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture onto each slice.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and edges are slightly golden.
  7. Garnish with parsley or green onions if desired. Serve warm.

 Tips

  • Great for parties, game nights, and potlucks
  • Can be made ahead and baked just before serving
  • You can add a little hot sauce if you like it spicy
