Iowa Party Bites
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 package party rye bread (or cocktail bread slices)
- Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the diced onion until browned. Drain excess grease.
- In a bowl, mix the cooked beef with cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Arrange the rye bread slices on a baking sheet.
- Spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture onto each slice.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and edges are slightly golden.
- Garnish with parsley or green onions if desired. Serve warm.
Tips
- Great for parties, game nights, and potlucks
- Can be made ahead and baked just before serving
- You can add a little hot sauce if you like it spicy
