A cozy, crowd-pleasing casserole that combines juicy cheeseburger flavors with tender potatoes, crispy bacon, and loads of melty cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights or family dinners!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Colby Jack cheese
  • 1 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp dried oregano (optional)
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing

Optional toppings:

  • Pickles
  • Green onions
  • Ketchup or burger sauce
  • Sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and oregano. Stir well and remove from heat.
  4. In a small saucepan, heat butter and milk (or cream) until warm.
  5. Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish. Season lightly.
  6. Add half of the beef mixture, sprinkle with bacon, and top with cheese.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, beef, bacon, and cheese.
  8. Pour the warm milk mixture evenly over the casserole.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes, until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

 Serving Tips

Top with pickles, green onions, or a drizzle of ketchup and mustard for a true cheeseburger vibe!
