Moist, flavorful, and incredibly easy — the secret is the onion soup mix!

This classic American meatloaf is juicy on the inside, perfectly seasoned, and topped with a sweet and tangy glaze. A comfort-food favorite the whole family will love.

 Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix  (secret ingredient)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Optional Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce or vinegar

 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, add the ground beef.
  3. Add onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, ketchup, and seasonings.
  4. Gently mix until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish or on a lined sheet pan.
  6. Mix glaze ingredients and spread evenly over the top (optional but recommended).
  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until fully cooked and lightly caramelized on top.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  • Mashed potatoes
  • Green beans or steamed vegetables
  • Mac and cheese
  • Simple side salad

 Tips

  • Don’t overmix the meat or it will be dense.
  • The onion soup mix replaces salt and adds deep flavor.
