 Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) thinly sliced beef steak (sirloin or similar)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Marinara sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the steak filling
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced beef, onion, and bell pepper.
Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring until the beef is browned and vegetables are tender.
Add garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for 1 more minute.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the dough
Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Assemble the stromboli
Spread the beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly on top.
  5. Roll and seal
Carefully roll the dough lengthwise into a log.
Pinch the seams and tuck the ends underneath. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  6. Brush and bake
Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle Parmesan cheese if using.
Cut a few small slits on top for steam.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Serve
Let rest for 5 minutes, slice, and serve warm with marinara sauce.

 Tips & Variations

  • Add sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor
  • Swap mozzarella with provolone or a mozzarella-provolone mix
  • For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or jalapeños
