CHEESEBURGER PIE
Inspired by Pioneer Woman
All the flavors of a classic cheeseburger baked inside a flaky pie crust. Easy to prepare, hearty, and perfect for family dinners.
INGREDIENTS
FOR THE FILLING
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon mustard (optional)
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional, for extra melt)
FOR THE CRUST
- 1 prepared pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
FOR THE CUSTARD TOPPING
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup heavy cream (optional, for richness)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1: PREHEAT AND PREPARE THE CRUST
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Press the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.
- Crimp the edges if desired and set aside.
STEP 2: COOK THE BEEF MIXTURE
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
- Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Season with salt, pepper, paprika, mustard, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE PIE
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared pie crust.
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese and mozzarella evenly over the meat.
STEP 4: PREPARE THE EGG MIXTURE
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Slowly pour the mixture over the beef and cheese.
STEP 5: BAKE
- Place the pie in the oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.
- If the crust browns too quickly, cover edges with foil.
STEP 6: REST AND SERVE
- Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm with a simple salad, pickles, or fries.

- Swap cheddar for Colby Jack or American cheese.
