 Maple Cookies with Maple Icing

Soft, chewy cookies topped with a rich maple glaze — perfect for fall or any time you want cozy, comforting flavor!

Cookie Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Maple Icing Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp maple extract (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

For the Cookies:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden.
  8. Let cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the Maple Icing:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and maple syrup together.
  2. Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. If using, stir in the maple extract.
  4. Let the icing cool slightly until it thickens just enough to drizzle or spread.
  5. Drizzle or spread the icing over cooled cookies. Let set before storing.

Tips

  • For a deeper maple flavor, use dark maple syrup (Grade B) and the optional maple extract.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • The icing sets beautifully — great for gifting!
