Mini Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Apples

  • 1 cup apple, peeled and finely diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)

For the Glaze (Optional but Recommended)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat
    • Preheat your waffle maker or mini waffle donut maker.
    • Lightly grease with nonstick spray.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients
    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients
    • In another bowl, whisk sugar, milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine
    • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
    • Gently fold until just combined (don’t overmix).
    • Fold in the diced apples.
  5. Cook
    • Spoon batter into the waffle donut molds or waffle iron (don’t overfill).
    • Cook for 3–5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Cool Slightly
    • Remove and let cool for a few minutes on a wire rack.
  7. Glaze
    • Mix powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
    • Drizzle or dip the warm waffle donuts into the glaze.

Serving Tips

  • Best served warm
  • Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce
  • Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert
