Cheesy Sloppy Joe Toast
Quick, messy, cheesy, and totally irresistible!
This easy Sloppy Joe Toast is perfect for a fast dinner, game night, or when you want comfort food without the fuss.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ yellow onion, diced
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, for balance)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 6–8 slices bread (toast, Texas toast, or sandwich bread)
- 1½–2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- Butter (optional, for toasting bread)
Instructions
- Cook the beef
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease. - Add onion
Stir in diced onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until soft. - Make the Sloppy Joe sauce
Add tomato sauce, mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar (if using), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thick and flavorful. - Toast the bread
Lightly butter bread slices and toast in a pan or oven until lightly golden. - Assemble
Spoon Sloppy Joe mixture over each toast slice. Top generously with shredded cheese. - Melt the cheese
Place under the broiler or in a hot oven (400°F / 200°C) for 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
